The argument that the quality of education will decrease due to lack of competition is valid. However, as the leader of the feee world, to restrict education to the elite and those who can afford to go into debt for the sake of the most competitive schools is cynical. Imagine the innovation the world has missed out on because children were neglected. What about the jobs we'll never have because a sector of the population could never become entrepreneurs? Imagine students who could think creatively and forge a path for themselves unburden by debt, instead of choosing safe careers to afford a basic lifestyle. We shouldn't be having this argument still. It's inhumane. If anything in this world should be free, it's education.
