These are two separate issues and one shouldn’t have any bearing on the other. If a person serves and retires, they should receive their retirement. If a person gets hurt while serving they should be rated and paid accordingly. How could any legislator agree to paying concurrent to some disabled veterans (those with 50% or higher), and not all disabled veterans (those with less than 50%)? Veterans are Veterans...........it is unlawful to discriminate between the two or it should be but that is what happened here. If you are a disabled Veteran with a disability less than 50% and you are not treated the same as a Veteran with a disability rated 50% or more, you are being discriminated against by the extent of your injuries. Is this the American way in how we support so few that willfully volunteer to protect our country at it’s becon call?
