The Obama regulation was tightly crafted to be respectful of unreasonable search with out justification. It is discriminatory to assume those applying for or receiving unemployment benefits are somehow predisposed to drug use. There are countless ways to become unemployed that have zero to do with an employee's effectiveness or productivity. Indiscriminate corporate downsizing to run "lean and mean" comes to mind, along with downturns in the economy - most recently seen as a result of Wall Street ineptitude. Did senior management of companies receiving bailouts have to submit to drug testing? Our legislative branches have been known to hardline to the point of shutting our government down rather than do the hard work of compromise in ways that benefit the American people. Did we submit them to drug testing as a result of their irresponsible and irrational behavior? If you vote yes for this...please do the honorable thing and submit to random drug testing for your entire length of service on my taxpayer dime. Laws that rudely and prejudicially impact American people collecting unemployment -that they have paid for through previous payroll deductions - should be applied to those who are happy to earn their living off taxpayers. Some members of Congress clearly have their hearts in the right places for all Americans, and I applaud and appreciate their ongoing efforts; increasingly though, many have only the interests of their mega-dollar corporate donors in mind. I hope everyone on Countable makes the time to read Dark Money, White Trash, Hillbilly Elegy, and What's the Matter With Kansas....not to mention a regular dose of world history.
