While I do believe gun safety laws need to be tightened and that this is simply a "feel good and tell my constituents I did something while really doing nothing" bill, I am in favor of programs that create greater communication between law enforcement and community. To those who say guns aren't the problem and that they have been around forever, false. Guns, the kind our founders understood, could in NO WAY massacre many people in ten minutes. It takes a minute to load a muzzle loading rifle. Weapons that are meant solely for the most efficient destruction of human life have no business in the hands of civilians. It doesn't have to be "either - or" in a zero sum game. There needs to be common sense compromise to save the lives of our children. Guns are a part of our culture and that is fine. Mass murder should move us all to compromise in behalf of the common good.
