First of all, this bill would be unnecessary with universal healthcare. In fact, veterans are one of the groups that would benefit most from a singe-payer system. That being said, I understand the VA would receive whatever funds remain before the cutoff date for this bill. As underfunded and short of staff as the VA is, I'm sure they would make great use of those funds. However, I don't think we should shift money around that has already been earmarked, nor should the VA have to be burdened by the flood of needs that may head their way once veterans are no longer able to continue with their current providers. I hope sufficient funds and resources are provided to the VA in the near future so bills such as this would be unnecessary. Perhaps the funds used to provide security coverage to Trump and his family while his wife and son live in New York and he goes golfing could be rerouted to our Veterans.
