As many other people have probably noted, people don't sue car manufacturers when there is a fatal accident. People don't sue silverware companies when they are overeating. People don't sue the dictionary printers when they spell a word wrong. I could put a gun on my front porch, and not a single person would be killed by that gun because there needs to be someone who operates the gun and pulls the trigger. Guns don't just fire themselves (unless there is a severe defect). Just as cars don't kill people, people who drive these cars can kill people, guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people. Therefore, just as it isn't GMs fault for creating the car that caused a fatal crash, it isn't Smith and Wesson's fault for creating a gun that was used in a fatal shooting.
