The 30-hour work week in the ACA was designed to circumvent the common corporate and business practice of hiring employees and giving them less than 40 hours work per week so they would not qualify for company-provided healthcare insurance. Millions of Americans who were uninsured suddenly qualified to be insured under this provision in the ACA, and I am sure they would not be pleased with this bill which will take away their ability to qualify! This is one reason why you will not see a single established labor union supporting this bill! Union contracts require a 40-hour work week and contain provisions for employer-provided healthcare for their members. Employers have been and will continue trying to chip away at the healthcare benefits provided in union contracts, while continuing to require 40-hours per week to qualify. Under this bill many workers, union and non-union, may find themselves between a rock and a hard place. And, no surprise here, guess who wins?
