Under the Visa Lottery Program, Applicants must have either a high school education or two years of qualifying work experience to be eligible to apply. All immigrants selected must undergo interviews at US embassies or consulates, and pay $330 in fees. Also, I quote, "Winners undergo intense vetting, including criminal background checks and medical examinations." Also, "Millions apply each year, and fewer than 1 percent are randomly selected to undergo background checks. If they pass, they receive a green card, which grants them permanent residency in the United States and puts them on a path to citizenship. About 500,000 people have come to the United States through the program since 2007, according to the Pew Research Center. So this program is not the terror many on the right like us to believe. 1 person out of 500,000. So it is not a free ride, they must have an education and go through intense vetting. The major difference is that they do not need a sponsor here in the U.S. Terror needs to be fought with smart thinking, not by fear. Making us afraid is what they want.
