My husband and I are a prime example of why Medicaid services are so essential. After my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia I was forced to stay at home and care for him. Our retirement is completely gone secondary to market crashes and illness. My husband qualified for Medicaid because of our income and his deteriorating health. I was finally able to draw my SS early which allowed us to move out of daughters home. We had just enough to live month to month. Then we got a small SS raise and we were notified we no longer qualified. With the part B and Supplemental plan fees we now find ourselves in the hole every month. We are long past the time that something needs to be done to address these and other issues in healthcare. I am now not eligible to draw the full amount I would have drawn for SS because I was forced to care for my husband. I have to retirement because it has been spent on illness. As it stands l, I will be unable to live in the future on what I am current drawing. I urge you to take this and other issues under consideration.
