We humans already appear to be past the point of no return on slashing the contributing factors to rapidly rising global temperatures and sea levels. We built our structures and villages right up to the ocean water’s edge. Now the hens are coming home to roost—the waters are rising irrevocably. I bet the wealthy coastal property owners of the Western world want everything done that their governments can do to protect their precious parcels. It’s clearly past time to get serious about mitigating what has become inevitable. Take a few billion dollars from federal subsidies of the energy industry and spend that instead on mitigating the environmental havoc those companies have wrought.
