My initial thought on this subject was: why not? But, as I thought more about it, it came to me that there are dirty and racist cops and vets along with the majority of the great ones. Unfortunately, the 1 rotten apple does spoil the bunch. Therefore, no one should be "exempt" from taking the same tests or meeting the exact requirements as all other job applicants. This bill would not even save taxpayer money. The 1 hour polygraph test is not going to be a hardship for police or vets, so it begs the question, what is this bill really about? Is it just another way republicans can fill legislative time putting forth meaningless legislation that plays well with the general population? All the while, ignoring the extremely important issues we should be dealing with? Republicans don't seem to want to tackle the hard stuff or even put in the effort to truly address the hard stuff (i.e.: healthcare). Is seems to me, if it won't fit on a bumper sticker, it's not worth their time. They don't want to legislate they just want to campaign their way through congress.
