State’s Rights anyone? The federal government had its chance to intervene and stop states from legalizing marijuana for medical and/or recreational purposes. Two thirds of Americans, including 56% of Republicans, support its legalization. Thirty-three states have legalized marijuana in some form already. Due to federal law, real, quality research is difficult to find, but an overwhelming amount of corroborating and observational evidence indicates it has significant positive impact on many health conditions.
Lastly, the states that have NOT legalized marijuana yet, absolutely should look to states that have done so to determine best practices and legalize marijuana quickly to assist the multitude of state and local governments deal with massive tax shortfalls and budget deficits.
A friend moved to Chicago, Illinois recently, and the tax rate for recreational use buyers is ~48%!!
NC should legalize marijuana now!
