Although I believe spending on campaigns is an extremely pressing issue, this piece of legislation would do more harm than good. As it reads on here, it wants to preserve the constitutional rights to only people, and not corporate entities. My question is to what end? Do these corporations lose their right to a fair trial, or representation in court? Do they lose the right to protect themselves, leaving banks unarmed? Do these corporations lose their right to go to the press and have their view published, or any other form of free speech taken away? What about the right to organize? Will corporations no longer be allowed to form chambers of commerce, nor will they be able to share their advancements in a fair and open market? Although, these corporations have disproportionate power in the elections as is, this "band-aid" of legislation will not fix the problem, only create pandemonium in the marketplace and in our democratic society.
