So,Stephen Lynch.why only the Executive Branch?
Congress is infamous of its unethical practices from insider trading to sweetheart deals with special interests. You must not have gotten the email that Congress makes special laws, rules and regulations only for members of Congress. It votes itself pay increases and special health care and retirement benefits. i
Steven, you’ve been in Congress a long time. I ‘ll bet your a millionaire a few times over by now.
Your bill was first proposed in January 2019.Reading your argument for it raises all kinds of questions. Especially now with the Mueller investigation over and the Inspector General’s report about to be released and the AG’s investigation into evidence of corruption and treasonous activities in the FBI,Intelligence Agencies and DOJ.
President Trump first talked about cleaning the “DC swamp” before he was elected President. The current investigations appear to be an important first step in the process.
Clearly, changes to ethics rules, disclosure and transparency, along with campaign finance reform and Congressional term limits will all be important to restoring integrity and transparency in government and restoring adherence to the rule of law.
So the need to change the law now before the results of these investigation reveal the root causes of the internal threats to our Constitutional Republic is somewhat suspect and appears political motivated,as usual, and the primary drivers.
Does this bill apply only to the Executive Branch and if so,why not the Congress and why not all government employees?
Since the DC Swamp exists, members like yourself who have been in Congress a long time have been aware of it’s existence.
Right now Congressman Lynch there is a humanitarian crisis at our Southern boarder caused by Congress’s repeated failures.
The People want you to stay focused on that problem not pursue politically motivated ethics legislation without the benefit of the pending investigation results. The time to begin cleaning the swamp is Nov 3, 2020.
