I fly into the us from overseas and I can tell you they don't scrimp on security, I have odd things like a pocket monkey in my wallet (a cool tsa approved multi tool) a rescue beacon in my bag (I hike far away from cellphone signal sometimes) laptops, iPads, kindles, cameras, lenses, lens filters, batteries, Chargers... And they look at everything! Tsa never once looked at it, made me turn it on, dabbed it for chemical analysis. So... All that said... I don't think tsa would really help. We re-screen at most airports anyhow, and have immigration, so I think we are alright. It's already our policy to rank airports and give extra security for those that aren't so good. It's not broken.
