This might be one of the more important reforms in recent history, law enforcement across these United States now takes more money, including property, autos, etc. from American citizens, that is actually stolen by criminals. Majority of states, cities and the federal government have few if any regulations on keeping track of the individual cases, so it could potentially even be higher than we think. We need to require a conviction before forfeiture of assets, and only assests that were included in the crime, not seizing mom and dad's car because their kid got pulled over in it. We need to require strict record keeping with transparency, and eliminate federal bureaus providing workarounds to state and local forces through "equitable sharing" practices.
