Yesterday, Mueller spoke publicly and closed up shop, yet all anyone wants to talk about is what that means for President Trump. I know. Trump is awful. Totally. Irredeemably. Awful. Or, if you're a supporter, he's not. Regardless, why is nobody talking about the other part of what Mueller had to say?
Mueller was very clear that he believed he was called in to investigate if Russia attacked our founding systems, purposely and with ill intent. He was even clearer in finding that Russia did exactly that.
So, depending on your politics perhaps, America may or may not have an internal enemy, but, regardless of your politics, definitely America has an external enemy. Why then do we continue to push aside the reality of the external enemy like it just doesn't matter at all?
At the end of the day, whether Trump "merely" benefited from the actions of the external enemy or assisted in their orchestration will come out in the wash. If we pursue that track to its logical ends and prepare a reaction to and defense against it, the President either will defend the US or he will aid Russia, and the rest of our elected government will, before our eyes, make similar choices within the same constraints of context.
The President, and every serving member of the US government, should be made to perform their choice of allegiance loudly, publicly, and often, and so should we. I fail to understand why this is not happening.
