I am a survivor of the Virginia Tech shootings that happened during my freshman year in 2007. On that day, a day I will never forget, I remember not being able to get a call or text out to my family to tell them that I was alive and well, adding to the terror of the situation. I wasn't able to get a call or text out to my roommate, suitmates, or fellow Hokies either to determine if my fellow Hokies were safe. All I could see was the count on my voicemails rising, but I wasn't able to get an outbound signal at all that day. Thankfully, I was able to get to my computer to send an email and a Facebook post to let my family and friends know I was fine. We never know when an emergency is going to strike. Our phones should be reliable modes of communication at all times, especially in times of crisis. Please support this bill and vote YEA!
