American small businesses cannot compete with Chinese made products. My friend owns a circular knitting factory (the last one in Brooklyn - there used to be 60) and he struggles to compete for retailers. We allow a bunch of cheap crap made in China to be brought in dirt cheap so we can buy a t-shirt for $5 when we should pay $10 to have American made products. His company is failing because he's weighed down by our minimum wages, workplace safety standards, etc etc. China continues to pollute and pay their employees $1/day. Small business can't compete with that! But with higher tariffs aka taxes for China and retailers like Wal Mart, we can see a shift in the direction of helping American entrepreneurs and stop giving our money to China.
