This resolution addresses the issue of a long needed amendment to the Constitution. Because the 1972 Equal Rights Amendment was never ratified ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal_Rights_Amendment ) there are no actual provisions in the Constitution or case law that require women receive equal treatment. Hence the continued resistance by businesses to pay women the same as men for comparable work. It is not illegal to pay men more than women doing the same job, therefore businesses are not required to, so they don't! From what I can see of this bill, it at least requires legislators to go on record as either supporting or rejecting the need for a Constitutional Amendment. I believe it is a strategy to at least get on record those who are obstructing that effort. This could be useful in 2018.
