To amend title 18 United States Code,
20 weeks being four months really isn’t all that bad. But it seems ridiculous. Firstly, a zygote to embryo (under 11 weeks) will not survive outside the womb so there was no reason to put that in. 22 weeks is the youngest any fetus survived out side the womb and is extremely premature. Needing a lot of medical care. Have you ever seen the NICU? It’s heartbreaking because you don’t know if the dedicated team of nurses and doctors can save these kids. If that kid showed signs of life, unless there is a “do not resuscitate” order, that’s where they go.
Has this Congressman even listened to obstetricians and educated himself or did he write this bill after binge watching trump rallies?
The few doctors that would perform such a procedure would NEVER perform it without a good valid medical reason. There are terrible conditions the kid could have a like not having critical pieces of its brain and looking at seizures for the rest of their possibly short lives, please also look up acromelic frontonasel dysostosis. There can be heart conditions that cannot be fixed and frankly I would rather see parents be allowed to terminate a pregnancy should the worst happen.
There should not be a law overriding the parents “do not resuscitate” order. This law would force the parents to watch their child suffer. It is bill of cruelty and control masked as compassion.
I have to vote no on this.
