I personally have never been in jail nor know anyone in federal prison - So my question may be ignorant thing is I PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO IRS in taxes as a business owner, so my question is why would't they approve "supervised release" for federal prisoners taking a rounded cost per inmate from $135.00 a day to $37.00 ??? I get the fears some have about criminals (it's not a blanket fear we all share) This is where I assume guideines would be clear & consistent ( not a option for child molestors or violent criminals in non violent etc) come in THIS IS where the officials we elected b/c we trust or believed they would be capable and qualified enough to create those guidelines.. Sadly I only came across more outsourcing when researching this topic - Report after report (it's paper jamming waste of tax payers money) have employees within the federal agencies research the stats and data needed- Non BOP of course some (seem complacent) that way you create a need, positions for those fearing job loss with the disgusting amount of money being spent on guards I am sure there are a lot... If not it's on programs like RDAP this to me looks like just another way to keep inmates in jail and correction officers employees- again make an inmate do this on his supervised release --and the programs run by qualified GOVERNMENT employees all those who'd be out of a job -
This brings me to my last point... I assume sentencing reform hasn't passed in all these years b/c there would be many many employees that would lose their jobs... well stop outsourcing to private companies things like ankle monitoring and create positions internally for those who very well may lose their jobs or their jobs are at risk. ...I pay out over 100K a year in IRS taxes Im thinking part goes into paying these employees and my feeling is, it is not money well spent - I saw a bill that passed about pepper spray (great ) I saw bills on the floor or approved asking about naming a day --REALLY??? - they pass so it's must be important right ? It's an embarrassment how our government runs - pathetic the things in which are a prioritized - Man up guys deal with this issue... so we the ones who pay all you people can get some relief here- disgusting I read a inmate got a 45 month sentence for weed - My God weed is legal in my state medicinally of course - that's like 135K a year for that inmate, not to mention the effects I assume it has on his family kids (if any) Supervised release is enough punishment reporting to another person weekly being accountable to someone other then THEMSELVES .. come on let's keep it re
