Our ability to manufacture was key to our success in WW2- and it used to be the envy of the world. Sadly, we have moved most of this offshore. This funding is an opportunity to jump start new tech into manufacturing processes and to train people in state-of-the-art methods- particularly those who have been displaced by economic changes. I would like to see some of it directed to green-tech solutions; wind turbines, solar farms, carbon-capture, carbon-gobbling bio farms, electric powered vehicles and new stuff that I cannot even imagine. I think it is a step in the right direction- although I do have to question the notion of making any government program “permanent”.
