I guess this bill has already passed both Chambers of Congress, so my objection would be merely symbolic. While boxing up a flag and mailing it to a family member may be one of those "feel good moments" for some, there is a real monetary consequence to actions like this. One should look up the cost of replacing a flag the size of the one flown over the Capitol. How can Congressmen run on a ticket of fiscal responsibility, and then turn around and dedicate thousands of new dollars to a symbolic gesture? A nice form letter from the President, and or the fallen hero's Senator, is equally as nice of a gesture, and costs much less money. So, no, I see this as just one more unfunded liability that is bringing us to our financial knees.
