The issue isn’t “falling back” and “springing forward” - the fact is in the winter months, we have less daylight hours in the day. This is because of the angle of the sun as we enter the winter months. Regardless of whether we switch it up, we’re still going to have the same number of daylight hours in the day. The question just becomes, do you want sunrise at 4am in winter and sunset at 4pm or 5am and 5pm, respectively. Basically there are roughly 12 hours of daylight in winter. We can call it 4am to 4pm, or 5am to 5pm. It doesn’t really matter, because at the end of the day (no pun intended), we still have 12 hours of daylight.
Congress should stop entertaining other laws and proposals that are not directly tied to providing economic relief for struggling Americans due to the raging pandemic currently surging through our country. Millions of Americans can’t even afford to buy food, while lawmakers, in their fancy suits, with absolutely zero risk of going hungry, discuss daylight savings time... seriously? Get it together. Do better.
