You simply can’t abandon kids to fen for themselves after aging out of foster care. Haven’t they had enough trauma in their young lives already? We owe them whatever help they need to become productive members of society, including counseling and job training. They’ll end up on the streets even if they work a minimum wage job which is all they are qualified to do. They certainly can’t afford a roof over their heads.
Foster kids are essentially orphans, and a society as great as ours should be caring for widows and orphans. We were commanded to do so by the Gospel. If we don’t, we’ll have to answer for it in the next life - assuming you believe in one.
Personally, I believe in reincarnation, and I’d just soon not come back as a dung beatle in the next life. Karma can be a real bitch. Your choices will always catch up with you, regardless of your beliefs.
