I would love to have more say where my taxes are spent. However, this is not the solution. If Congress was doing its job and proposing a reasonable budget and stop offer tax loopholes for the rich, being fiscaly responsible wouldn't be out of reach. However, since that doesn't seem possible, a tax increase limited to just the approximate 115,000 households in the top 0.1 percent, with an average income of $9.4 million, a 40 percent tax rate would produce an estumbled $55 billion in extra revenue in its first year. This revenue could be applied directly to the deficit. Since we know that isn't happening, offer to let me decide where my taxes were spent as a whole... that is legislation I can easily support.
