Our military already greatly eclipses that of any other nation on earth. Even the runner up, China, spent four times less on their military than the United States in 2016. Third in line is Saudi Arabia, who spent seven times less. Fourth is Russia, who spent nine times less on their military than the United States in 2016. We have no need to expand our military. We already have enough arms to destroy the world several times over. Instead, we should find productive uses for this obscene and ridiculous amount of money. Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a decorated general during World War II, warned against the military-industrial complex, saying he hates war "as only a soldier can." How wise we would be to heed his words.
