I'm all for common sense gun regulation, but there are a number of flaws with this bill. Restricting the ownership of semiautomatic weapons so that only people older than 16 can own an assault weapon makes sense. But to prevent even brief possession at a firing range? There seems to be no reason for that extreme level of restriction. How would that prevent the rampant gun violence, accidents, and suicides that reasonable gun control legislation is meant to address? Let's refocus our efforts on measures that could actually save lives, like expanded background checks ,which over 70% of Americans support, and go from there.
