It’s time to end the utterly unnecessary federal ban on that plant. Using tax dollars to investigate, arrest, and incarcerate those who possess or sell that species of plant is completely insane. We can barely find meaningful programs yet we let early 20th century propaganda (from its competition) dictate our “moral” views yet conveniently pretend that alcohol is somehow different. At a minimum, the federal government isn’t the right body to make that decision. The feds should be regulating interstate commerce, not the status of something that grows. State and local governments are better able to decide those issues. One could list the myriad of scientifically proven benefits, but that isn’t necessary to argue that the Schedule 1 status of that plant is just a completely failed decision.
