I am in favor of this. As a teacher at a high school, the resource officer is a great tool for schools to use in order to help students when they need it and to hold parents accountable when they decide to stop parenting. Our resource officer is the best I have ever seen but he is wanting to move on to get better pay, which I don’t blame him for. Having him around everyday will also help to create relationships and free up administrators to do what they need to do instead of searching lockers for drugs. It will also free up funds to go to other things in education. Please support this bill.
Also, I hope this wouldn’t remove local districts control on who is the SRO.
