There is only 1 planet we can survive on so why would we destroy. Pretty simple, not sure why this is even discussed, it's a fact that climate change is effecting us in a negative way, this isn't something that is to be debated. The Antarctic ice sheet is melting quicker than anticipated, which means that in my lifetime I will see cities disappear, which is a terrifying thought. Not only that, but our entire food system will be devastated due to drought and extended heat waves. My friend at Tulane already see's his campus become flooded after one rainstorm, but pretty soon the whole campus will be under water. This is not something to screw around with. As hard as it is, we all need to begin to make sacrifices if we want this to get any better. For example, something the media never talks about is the damage that industrial farming and cows do to our environment due to the rate at which we consume beef and dairy products. It takes 30 gallons of water to produce one hamburger, which is more than a five minute shower. If we took little steps to reduce our footprint we can make tremendous strides in reducing the impact we have on our climate. Our one and only climate. Although most Americans don't realize effects of climate change, people around the world see it daily. Many of the nations hit the hardest by climate change are amongst the poorest, such as Pakistan who gets hit with flooding regularly which results in deaths left and right. We don't always realize what takes place and that is not anyone's fault, we just need to try and be more aware and make lifestyle changes that will not only benefit your health, but the planet as a whole.
