We live in a society where the only legal form of violence is administered by the military and the police. It's a social contract that works only as long as those in authority use violence strictly in accordance with the law and in proportion to the situation. It has become OBVIOUS that the police are not, and have not, been living up to their end of the contract, especially when it comes to black folks. Is there any question why citizens have been responding in kind? I am in no way advocating violence against police; however, it is absurd to me that we're talking about further enhancing the penalty for attacks against cops and not doing anything about putting cops in jail when they attack citizens. And has it occurred to anyone that the judicial system would be using laws designed to protect minorities (black folks) against the very people (black folks) being attacked by corrupt police and government systems? Cops who break the law need to go to jail.
