Why is it that the most nuclear solution is the one proposed when a simple one is much easier to tackle? The simple solution would be to appoint more judges. Yes, breaking up the district would also require this, but it doesn't guarantee an endgame that ensures they fit with a specific political agenda. Breaking up the district, i.e. the nuclear option, would require even more time and money to figure out where to draw the lines to ensure maximum conservative judicial representation. This is in essence an attempt at gerrymandering the court system. A system that should remain as independent of political leanings as possible to ensure it is an effective check on overarching legislative power.
