Why is it that we need to spend half a trillion dollars on our military's entrenchment in the Middle East, and not on our own people? What are they trying to accomplish? Are they truly doing good? We spend a terribly large amount funding an undemocratic, theocratic monarchy in Saudi Arabia's endeavors to bombard and starve Yemeni people, when there are people starving in our own country because of our own neglect. We entered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to purge terror, and it has only brought us into more war and more terror. It is amazing that we consider ourselves to be a civilized nation when we stifle our working class for the endeavors of the wealthy and powerful. You can't kill an idea with a gun; and the casualties of the war on terror are produced at home with the bombs. Some of this money can be used for humanitarian aid as well as national security, or for programs that benefit people in our own country. National security means protecting our country, not thousands of miles outside of our borders.
