If everyone had parents with healthy relationships, it would be easy to say that school should be spent on teaching academics rather than relationships. However, the fact is that many home relationships are abusive/destructive and the school environment might be a child's only learning opportunity. If there were an elementary school class teaching what love and healthy relationships look like (I'm not talking about sex here) then many abusive situations could potentially end. The problem with a lot of abused children is that THEY DON'T KNOW THEY'RE BEING ABUSED, or are unable to speak up about it in a safe environment. Even though this bill refers to high school, it's a step in the right direction.
