I understand that cost of living in different parts of the country varies widely. Even at $13 an hour, it is insufficient to support even one person let alone a family in some markets. In others, it's pretty decent pay. In most instances though, minimum-wage jobs tend to be part time, which makes the situation even worse, forcing people to have to work two or three jobs just to exist, which removes them from their families and puts their health at risk. I love the comment by someone earlier in this thread about regulating CEO salaries, keeping them to no more than a certain percent over the average wage of their employees. Funny how that frees up money not only for raises for their employees, but to provide profits to their shareholders as well. A raise for those at the bottom of the food chain is certainly overdue!
