So, here is where I am torn. I firmly believe that voter suppression adversely impacts women, minorities, and the poor. I want that to be a part of my consideration here. Conversely, I also firmly believe in making sure the right people are voicing their perspectives as part of our electoral process. Therefore, here is my solution: implement the requirement that all citizens or legal permanent resident aliens have the right to vote. As part of this effort, federal funds must be directed to provide educational courses on the electoral process AND federal funds must be dedicated to providing consistent identification to all eligible voters. We must think about this in a creative and innovative way, and we must monitor adverse impact to ensure equality and access for all. I would love to hear more perspectives!
