This tax bill is an economic and moral attack on all but the wealthiest Americans and corporations on so many levels, I almost do not know where to begin listing its faults. I can say that directly affecting my wife and I, both public educators in Florida, is the $250 school supply credit. It's a small amount, sure, but it was at least a small nod that teachers are underpaid while also recognizing we supply much of students' necessities. We are qualified professionals and took significant pay cuts to move to Florida after teaching in another state. Moreover, the student loan interest item is also being eliminated, so the Master's degrees we obtained to be better educators, which we are struggling to pay off on our limited salaries, will be harder to pay off. Our votes go only to those who pass legislation with teachers and students in mind. With this tax bill, we cannot ever justify voting for a Republican.
