I’m all for remembrance of atrocities in our past to ensure that history doesn’t repeat itself, but there are a few things wrong with this. One - Most of these governments were not communist (even though they coined that term officially). They were facism, totalitarianism, a version of capitalism, or some kind of dictatorship disguised as something more accepting to the public in order to get to power. Two - There are far greater things to be spending this kind of money on in areas our public is in dire need of. If you really want a memorial of this magnitude, you would be better off calling it what it is... state capitalism.
