The president elect IS nothing but a private citizen. There's a reason why we have elections so far in advance of the inauguration. I'm not saying that pres-elect Trump is breaking the law and negotiating foreign policy already. There's a fuzzy line between making/negotiating foreign policy and getting ready to take office. The pres-elect should be encouraged to contact other heads of state to help prepare for being president. But the moment that crosses the line into negotiating trade deals, military cooperations, and other parts of foreign policy, the president elect is breaking the law and it needs to stop.
