According to the CBO, the AHCA will result in 24 million Americans losing their health care over the next 10 years. It will mean higher premiums for many Americans, worse coverage options, and even millions of people with employer coverage will lose their coverage as a result of this bill. The AHCA also cuts $880 billion in funding for Medicaid, which will result in 14 million Americans from working families losing their coverage. It does all of this in order to give a major tax cut to the wealthiest Americans, insurance companies, drug companies, and other corporations like medical device companies. $59.17 per month per $20,000 of annual income is all it would cost to expand Medicare coverage to every man, woman, and child in America. By simply increasing the Medicare payroll tax from the current 1.45% to 5% we could fund an expansion of Medicare to cover everyone. That's an increase of 3.55% on earned income like wages and salary. By expanding Medicaid, the nation and its people, will be saving money.
