Yes. The Electoral College (EC) was supposed to be an opportunity for electors (more up to speed on the issues) to convene & deliberate on the candidates to make a more informed decision. This made sense back in the day when people got their news via town cryer or gossip. In modern times, everyone has near-instant access to info on all topics. The EC was intended as a safeguard to ensure our democracy is protected against an ignorant choice of the masses - say to elect a demagogue - and to ensure foreign governments don't meddle in our elections. Trump is an aspiring demagogue and is likely influenced by Russia. The EC thus failed spectacularly in choosing him. Also, the EC has roots to giving southern states more of a voice during the time of slavery. To top it all off, a presidential election where the winner lost the popular vote is becoming more common in recent history. For all of these reasons, the EC must be eliminated.
