The growing problem as I see it is not the use of force, it's the policy and procedures that allow and support the use of force. These policies and procedures need to be addressed. Uniform tactics when dealing with the general public needs to be enacted. For example it should be mandatory for officers to remain in their vehicles on a traffic stop until information regarding a vehicle is obtained. If there is reason that the occupants my be dangerous then they should order them out of the car, require them to come to the rear of their vehicle with their hands up and then place their hands on the trunk. This is when officers should approach, and not until then. Also, the term "I felt my life was in danger" shouldn't be the get out of jail card and excuse to empty a service weapon at an individual.
