If this bill were to put an emphasis on renewable energy then I would be in favor of it but there is no such emphasis. This bill will treat all energy sources "equally". Considering our current president and the people he surrounds himself with deny that climate change exists I find it difficult to believe that they will allocate the appropriate resources into the training of people dedicated to renewable energy. Instead I feel that the training being provided will disproportionately go to creating more infrastructure for the gas and oil industries. It's a damn shame too, I like that this bill will prioritize underrepresented groups but if the training they receive will be for an industry that is on the road to obsolescence then all we're doing is giving these people skills and jobs that won't be applicable in a few years then this is a waste of time and money. Our stock should be in achieving sustainability. There's just as much money to be made in manufacturing solar panels and wind turbines as there is in pipelines and drills. The only difference is the money won't be going into the pocket of those already accustomed to making their living off of our flawed energy infrastructure.
