I think it's ok to ban federal funds from being used to directly fund abortions. It's called compromise. However, making it increasingly more difficult to receive an abortion, which is legal and incredibly personal, is not okay. I personally believe abortion is murder. That is my personal and religious belief. I also believe in the separation of church and state. I believe a persons' religion and faith dictate what is appropriate for them, not others. While I personally would never have one I would also never tell another woman what is right for her. The issue with "pro-life" is greater than just abortion. The same people who wish to see abortions outlawed *typically* vote republican, favor less big government involvement (irony that they can tell you to have a baby but stay out of my life, right?), vote for cuts in welfare and HHS programs that directly affect people in a lower socioeconomic status, and they have no intention of providing care for these women and the children they are forced to give birth to. The people who cite their religious beliefs as a basis for being pro-life baffle me. They are ok with war, not providing healthcare to all Americans, and capital punishment. Republicans and the christians who oppose abortion should focus on providing alternative means for these women. Help them find a place to live. Provide affordable childcare for a job paying a living wage. Provide healthcare to them. Help these women go to college. Abortion rates are the lowest they have been since Roe v. Wade because of free contraception and education. Abortion is a private decision for a woman to make. There are so many reasons a woman would/could choose this path. It's not your job to interfere with a woman's reproductive system and health.
