Weighed this very carefully, and finally decided to express my dissent overall.
We need to address the issue, not the symptoms here.
Classifying workers as contractors helps them be able to work more hours than they could legally work otherwise, and this is a godsend to everyone making less than $40/hour because these people can’t work enough to make a livable wage in 40 hours per week. They shouldn’t have to work that much, and that’s the issue that needs fixed. Not stripping away their ability to provide a livable wage. Am absolutely shocked by the number of people in this forum who missed this.
