I am all for deporting non citizens that have extensive criminal backgrounds but I also believe that committing 1 felony or 2 misdemeanors by definition does not constitute the right to take away that individual’s ability to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Instead we should focus this bill on the deportation of those non citizens who commit violent crimes or crimes against humanity or habitual offenders with recent criminal history. We have to remember that we are all immigrants to this nation regardless of the fact that the majority of us nowadays were born here. Imagine if our ancestors were deported because they committed minor offenses that most people are guilty of at least once or twice in their lives. If we are going to implement a bill of this nature then it needs to be well thought out with a totality of the circumstances mindset. As long as we do that then I’m all for deporting non citizen criminals, but in reality it needs to be case by case.
