For international destinations airlines must give the consumers/clients the option of either cash refunds, or a voucher for future travel that doesn’t expire, as we have no clue at this time when anyone will be allowed to travel again outside of the US. The voucher can be either for the same flight/destination or value. If the flight is for domestic travel, but the consumer/client doesn’t feel comfortable flying due to the uncontrollable outbreak, or the destination requires a mandatory quarantine in order to visit, they need to be offered a voucher with no expiration date.
Airlines have been bailed out more than once at the taxpayers’ expense and the service has only gone down with à la carte ticketing. It’s time for them be required to take some responsibility for their problems. First by slashing executives salaries, benefits, and perks to more than seven times that of the amount of their lowest paid employee. Narrowing the pay gap needs to be a mandatory requirement to all future governmental bailouts to any company.
