To address the 2 most recent comments opposed to the bill: 1) if it's a "state issue" then the Republican argument that's it's national security issue is null and void. 2). I agree on the permancy issue. Make all laws, past and present, require a sundown clause. Lets say 250 years. Then go back and grandfather the clause into all past laws, including Constitutional amendments. Now we can have a current debate on things like say the 2nd amendment. (I'm betting the author of that argument would not be as willing to take away the permanence of that particular issue.) It wouldn't take much digging to discover the donors behind the conservatives' opposition to this bill are highly invested in the profits generated by the mining companies this ban will affect.
